A real Person on the Planet

I believe there are few real people on the planet. Most seem to have an axe to grind. An agenda to further their cause or livelihood. Most who go through advanced education, end their curiosity at employment, and focus on their vocation.

Maya Angelou, died today and will be both missed and remembered, as a real person on the planet. While not a graduate of an institution of “higher learning”, she immersed herself in life. She was a prostitute, madam, writer, civil rights activist, poet, writer, traveller, and beautiful intelligent person. A real person on the planet who dove into the deep end of pool with joy and confidence. Her writings and actions have made a difference in the world. Here are a few quotes:

My mother said I must always be intolerant of ignorance but understanding of illiteracy. That some people, unable to go to school, were more educated and more intelligent than college professors.

Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.
